School Advisory Council (SAC)
Meeting Minutes

June 7, 2007

Members Present: Phil Knicky, Fran Harrison, Christine Yanovich, Chris Zuerlein, Dick VanHaute, Jim Farhart, Valarie Galing, Chris Overkamp and Father Damian

Opening Prayer: Opening prayer was lead by Chris Zuerlein

Introduction of new members: Kim Chase, Kim Sobczyk and Dave Woodard

Principal’s Report:

Chris Overkamp gave her annual report highlighting the school year of 2006-2007

• As of now the enrollment is at 519 for the 2007-2008 school year
• Fees went up $50 for the 2007-2008 school year
• 23 Catholic High School Scholarships were awarded to 8th grade students
• A group of teachers are working with the social studies curriculum to create Archdiocesan Standards by using the state standards
• Sandy Watson was recognized as elementary teacher of the year last year
• Sister Vivian has retired
• Jessica Baird will be the new 7th and 8th grade Math teacher
• Jill Tomson will be our Spanish teacher
• Handwriting Without Tears was implemented in the kindergarten and first grade classes this year and will be taught in second grade as well next school year

Pastor’s Report:

• Transitioning Associate Pastors right now
• Fr. Vitalis is going to Hooper and Fr. Wee is coming to St. Columbkille from St. Roberts
• Fr. Andy Roza will be covering masses this summer through September for Fr. Emanuel
• Fr. Damian is preparing the parent meetings this summer that will be given in September and October covering finances and Catholic Parent Responsibilities
• They will start writing the Strategic Plan in August

Series 3000:

#3502.1 Change was made to add Alcohol Consumption by staff employees during school hours is allowed only when authorized by the Pastor. Approved by all

President’s Report:

• Thanked Chris and Father for all of their hard work throughout the year
