School Advisory Council (SAC)
Meeting Minutes

August 8, 2007

Members Present:

Opening Prayer was lead by Father Damian

Pastor’s Report:

• Teachers started off the school year with a retreat in Schuyler on August 8th

• Letters were sent out to school families who have not signed up for either EFT or automatic withdrawal for their tithing pledge

• Father Damien Wee and Father Andrew Roza will be holding back-to-school prayer services Monday, August 11th for families A-L and Tuesday, August 12th for families M-Z

• Letters were set out to school families for mandatory parent meetings
September 4th or 6th - Expectations of parents of Catholic Children
October 16th or 18th - Where are we financially

Principal’s Report:

• The school is clean and ready for school to start

• All chalkboards have been replaced with white boards

• Enrollment for the 2007-2008 school year is at 521 students

• Laurie Weander has left and Kathy Rains has come on board as the aide for Mrs. Taylor in kindergarten and Mrs. Devlin is going to work with the older children

• Valarie Galing has worked over the summer setting up a website for normal communication between the school and home and daily homework assignments www.saintcolumbkilleschool.com

• Circle of Grace has been revised and the assessment is now accountable with the Archdiocese

• Archdiocese Science and Language Arts standards are finalized and are in line with the state standards. They will be implemented this year

• Accreditation process is completed and we are now accredited

President’s Report:

• Meetings for the 2007-2008 school year will be the first Thursday of the month at 7:30 in the school library

• Potential Committees for the school year are;
Policy and Procedure 4000-6000 series,
Communications,
Stewardship and Finance

• We will prepare a meal for the Stephen Center

The next meeting will be September 6th at 7:30 in the library
