Meeting Minutes
November 1, 2007
Members Present:
Kim Chase, Jim Farhart, Fran Harrison, Kim Sobczyk, Dick VanHaute, Dave
Woodard, Christine Yanovich, Chris Zuerlein, Father Damian, Valarie Galing
and Chris Overkamp
Opening Prayer was lead by Father Damian
Pastor’s Report:
• A focus group of 25-30 people is being formed to help
plan the Catholic School symposium, meetings are planned for November
29th.
• The school goals are needed for the long range plan
Principal’s Report:
• Red Ribbon week at school was October 29th through November 2nd
• Server training is happening the first part of November Letters
for the First Annual Rake-A-Thon went home in the white envelopes on
November 1st
• Health screening for all students except kindergarten and 7th
graders was November 2nd
• ITBS test scores are back and are being reviewed. They will be
sent home to parents on November 26th with progress reports
• Literature week will be November 12-16
• Text book loans have been signed by most parents and ready to
be processed for next year
• February 8th will be a day of reflection for the staff
President’s Report:
• The finance committee is trying to create a simple report showing the
school finances, Matt Miller will follow-up and present at the next
meeting.
• A list of possible focus areas were compiled for the five year plan
which were: Facilities, Equipment and Materials, Personnel, Academic
Excellence (Curriculum), Community Service, Image/Development,
Fundraising, Family Spirituality, Health and Safety, Before and
After School Care and Finance
• Board Members were asked to submit their suggestions for long-range
goals under these focus areas to Dick Van Haute to be discussed at the
nest meeting. Initial thoughts should be sent to Dick by November 15th. He
will collect and send to the group for review and comment before the
meeting.

The School Advisory Council will formally submit a report on the
relationship with the school’s principal. The St. Columbkille teaching
faculty will also be given the opportunity to formally comment on the
performance of the Principal each year. These performance report will be
presented to the Pastor prior to the Principal’s annual job evaluation.
Principal evaluations will be completed and submitted to the Pastor by
the end of December.

After reviewing the evaluation with the teacher, the Principal will then
review with the Pastor and place a copy of the evaluation in the teacher’s
file, which is kept confidential.
