Meeting Minutes

Members
Present:
Dick Van Haute, Kim Chase, Kim Sobczyk, Fran Harrison, Mark Narke, Dave Woodard,

Opening
prayer was led by Dave Woodard
Pastor’s
Report:
·
There will be
a slight increase in fees for the 2008-2009 school year so the school families
can meet the goal of supporting 60 percent of the cost to run the school
·
There will be
an increase in the technology fee due to some donations of technical support
the school will no longer be receiving and to implement programs for parents
to gain access about their child at school
·
There will be
a Suburban South Deanery meeting in the Steinhausen Center at 7pm on Thursday
April 10th
·
Adjustment will
be made to the Confirmation program next year to follow the First Communion
Model that is currently in place.
Principal’s
Report:
·
Confirmation went
well on March 30th and the second graders are preparing for First
Communion
·
Applications for
high school scholarships are due April 15th
·
School will start
August 15th for the 2008-2009 school as a half day August 18th
will also be a half day
·
Open house will
be August 12th and 13th starting at 6:30 in the
church
·
Mrs. Rowan will
be leaving to pursue a job in counseling and Mrs. Jankovich will go back to
teaching 5th grade. Mrs. Willis will be returning as
the new computer teacher
·
Teacher contracts
are complete and salary is at 85% of the PLV pay.
·
Gallup Strength
Finder follow-up sessions are being held with staff.
President’s
Report:
·
Kim Chase is in
the process of collecting all of the information on the before and after school
care program that was completed five years ago
·
Dave Woodard is
pursuing a database to house information for Alumni relations.
·
A concern was
raised about the late weeknight and early Sunday sports activities.
A letter from the Student Advisory Council will be sent to Bruce Tangeman
and Saint
Bernadette regarding the late night games and early Sunday games during the
recent Saint Bernadette Basketball tournament.
·
Officer elections
will be held at the May meeting.
·
Three members
will be leaving the board for the 2008/2009 school year. Candidates are
being contacted. Dick will forward potential candidates to Father Damian
and Chris Overkamp for approval and to extend a formal invitation.

Revised (proposed wording will be submitted to Father Damian and he will review
with the parish attorney).
St. Columbkille
Catholic School is a parish school supported by the contributions of all members
of St. Columbkille Church. And therefore, not tuition is to be charged
to tithing families of the parish. A school family must annually submit
a new stewardship card.
A tithing
family of the parish is defined as one whom:

Annually submits a new tithing pledge card with an appropriate pledge.
·
In good faith
keeps their pledge current.
These tithing contributions are voluntary payments.

first day of the school year.
