What Else Will My Child Need?

Preschoolers will need a backpack (standard size).  Please label the outside of the backpack with your child’s name.

Children will be most comfortable in play clothes and shoes which allow for running, climbing and a little dirt J.  Sneaker type shoes are preferred (flip flops and crocs can be frustrating for children on the playground).

Choose clothing which allows for independence at bathroom time.  Also, remember that your child will spend some time outdoors each day (large motor time and/or waiting to be dismissed), so please remember to dress your child for the weather.

Finally, don’t forget to label your child’s sweatshirts, coats, hats & mittens.  Your child will thank you!

What is Safe Environment Training?

Are you interested in helping with field trips, coaching or similar activities?  Please make plans to attend a Safe Environment Training Class.  Our parish will offer training in late August (details will be on the parish website and in the bulletin in early August).  Additional information and alternate training sessions are available on the Archdiocesan website www.archomaha.org.

A brief description of Safe Environment Training follows…
“Safe environment trainings have been set for 'all personnel of the archdiocese, i.e. priests, deacons, paid staff and volunteers who have regular contact with children and young people at the time they enter service in the name of the church' (Archdiocese of Omaha, Child Protection policy 4a, p15).

Initial training sessions run approximately 2 hours….Safe Environment Certification is good for a period of 5 years.”

Important August Dates

Monday, August 23 - Parent Information Meeting for parents/guardians only. We ask that at least one adult attend this meeting at 6:15 p.m. in the Steinhausen Ctr. (across the street from the church on 6th & Jefferson).

Tuesday, August 24 – Open House Day for all preschoolers/parents. Preschoolers and their parents have two time frames to choose from (8:00 – 9:00 a.m. or 11:30 – 12:30 p.m.). Please stop by anytime during these time frames. This is a wonderful opportunity for preschool children and their parents to become familiar with the preschool.
