Safe Environment Training

Our archdiocesan safe environment policy states that all adults who have regular contact with children/youth must successfully complete the safe environment training and a background check for SE certification, which is valid for 5 years. This certification must be active for all who have regular contact with children and youth. The archdiocese is pleased to announce that our new safe environment on-line recertification is now available and ready to use.

Initial Certification Training

Safe environment trainings have been set for all personnel of the archdiocese, i.e. priests, deacons, paid staff and volunteers who have regular contact with children and young people at the time they enter service in the name of the church. Initial training sessions run approximately 2-hours. Successful completion of training requires that an individual be present for the entire session. Safe Environment Certification is good for a period of 5 years.

Recertification Training

Individuals whose certification is near expiring must take the safe environment recertification training and have a background check completed. This on-line program was set up so individuals can complete the training at the parish, school or home at their convenience.
