Sacrament Preparation

Sacrament of Baptism

The Rite of Infant Baptism is normally performed during Mass on the third Sunday of each month.  A Baptism Preparation Class is required for parents with children to be baptized.  Call (402) 339-3285 for information or to register.

Baptism preparation is required by the Archdiocese of Omaha for parents bringing their child to be baptized in the Catholic Church.

St. Columbkille offers a two-part preparation program.

Welcome Your Child, the first session, is designed to provide parents with information on child development and parenting, support for their marriage during this important time, and a foundation in family spirituality.

The follow-up session presents baptismal history and theology information and will also familiarize parents with the rite of baptism so the celebration of the sacrament will be understood and appreciated.

All parents are expected to participate in the baptismal preparation program. Godparents should also attend if possible. Deacon Eldon Lauber, Pastoral Associate, coordinates the baptismal preparation. Please call the parish office at (402) 339-3285 before your child is born to register for the classes.

Sacrament of Marriage

The Archdiocese requires a minimum of six month’s notification for anyone wishing to be married in this parish.  This advance planning is needed to arrange for and complete various activities and programs associated with marriage preparation.  Please contact the parish office before a date is set, (402) 339-3285.
