Parish of Saint Columbkille—Go and make Disciples.

Music Ministry

The liturgical musicians serve as leaders of musical prayer for a variety of liturgical situations, including Sunday Mass and school liturgies. This ministry involves a variety of talented and dedicated musicians.

Cantors and Psalmists

Soloists and small groups serve as cantors and psalmists, leading the gathered assembly in liturgical song.

Keyboard and Guitar Accompanists and Instrumentalists

Musicians with skill at piano, organ, and guitar accompany the congregation, cantors, and psalmists in musical prayer throughout the year. Serving in a variety of capacities, this ministry ranges from accompanying larger choral ensembles to a single cantor at Mass. Instruments are often combined to form instrumental ensembles.

Grade School Ensembles

Small vocal ensembles lead music at grade school liturgies.

Adult Choir

The adult choir rehearses on Thursdays, 7:30 to 9:00 p.m., September through May and regularly sings at the 9:00 a.m. Sunday Mass. The choir also provides musical leadership for Holy Days, Triduum, Christmas, and other major parish celebrations. The choir sings four-part literature and is open to anyone eighteen years of age or older with some previous choral experience.

Small Ensembles

Several ensembles have been created to include a variety of interests, abilities, and time commitment. These groups
include the Select Choir, Wing and A Prayer, and the Youth Ensemble for High School singers.

Children’s Choirs

Children’s choirs are assembled for special events and seasons throughout the year, typically at Christmas and Easter.
