The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops describes adult faith formation as an essential process inviting Catholic Christians to integrate their own life experiences with knowledge of the faith, love of God, and love of neighbor. It is a complete initiation into the life of the Church as a way of forming a Christian conscience and a desire to act as Christ’s hands and feet in the world.

Fulfilling the mission given to us by Jesus – “Go and make disciples” – the Catholic Church asks adults to continue to learn about the Catholic faith so that we may better know and understand how the Holy Spirit is at work in our hearts and how God is calling us to use the gifts we have been given.

At St. Columbkille, we offer many different ways for you to learn more about and grow in your faith as a Catholic Christian. That Man is You! is an interactive, multimedia men’s program focused upon the development of authentic male leadership. Over the course of four years, That Man is You! successively considers men in their relationship to God, to their spouse and to their children.

The program content harmonizes current social and medical science with the teachings of the Church and the wisdom of the saints to develop the vision of man fully alive. It is particularly indebted to the teachings of the Second Vatican Council and Pope John Paul II.

That Man is You! is successful at attracting large numbers of men, including younger men still actively parenting, and then transforming their spiritual lives. Indeed, independent research from a Faith Advisor to The Gallup Poll reveals That Man is You! to be one of the most life transforming programs ever studied.

At St. Columbkille, That Man is You! will be begin with year one, meeting Thursday mornings 6:00-7:00 a.m. at the Steinhausen Center for breakfast, a video presentation, and small-group discussion.

Often times, lifelong Catholics comment that they would like to “audit RCIA,” the discernment process adults go through when they feel a calling to the Catholic Church. Adult Catholics want a deeper understanding of their faith as adults. In response to this, the St. Columbkille RCIA Team has put together a series of presentations open to any adult –Catholic or not– called Road to Emmaus.
These 90 minute sessions focus on topics that past RCIA participants —including lifelong Catholic sponsors—have found helpful as they have learned about the Catholic Church and her traditions.

RCIA—RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a discernment and learning process through which adults respond to the desire to know more about the Catholic Church. Through the course of RCIA, participants are invited to learn about the faith through prayer, study, and participation in the life of the parish community. If the Spirit leads them to do so, they can then be confirmed in the Catholic Church at Easter Vigil. Please contact Nicole Cook if you are interested in joining the Church or entering RCIA.
