Nine-Month Formation Classes
St. Columbkille Religious Education is for children of registered parishioners in grades Kindergarten-8th grade.
Some students need to attend specialized classes if they are seven years of age or older and have not yet been baptized. Those students would attend OCIC (Order of Christian Initiation for Children) classes. Children who have been baptized before the age of seven but did not make their First Holy Communion in the 2nd grade would need to attend OCIC-Communion.
OCIT (Order of Christian Initiation for Teens) is also offered. This specialized class is for students age 12 and 17 who are in need of any of the sacraments.
OCIC, OCIC-C and OCIT registrations will require a meeting between the parent(s) and the Coordinator of Religious Formation before registering for the class. Please call our office at 402-339-0990 to arrange an appointment before Aug.15th.
IMPORTANT ----Registrations for the next Nine-Month session begin in March and end in late August. The parish bulletin will have details at that time of the year.
Parish Participation Hours – This is a component to Religious Education and Sacramental Preparation. RE families are asked to complete 10 hours of Parish Participation between Aug. 1st and the following July. Opportunities must all be connected to the parish events or ministries. Weekly Mass and Holy Days of Obligation
We also expect that families attend Mass each week to fulfill their Sunday obligation. St. Columbkille offers seven different masses between Saturday and Sunday each week. Times are listed in the parish bulletin.
It is also expected to attend all Holy Days of Obligation.

- Dec. 8th Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary
- Dec. 25th Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord (Christmas)
- Jan. 1st Solemnity of Mary, Holy Mother of God
- May 6th Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord
- August 15th Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
