In addition to all of our groups and ministries, the parish has several annual events that serve as community-building ways for people to give of their time, talent, and treasure. Watch the bulletin for ways to get involved!

Family Fun Festival
The Family Fun Festival is held the third Sunday of September, and binds the parish and community together for a day of fun, food, and fellowship. The festival consists of a carnival with games for toddlers, children, and adults, great food, live entertainment, trolley rides, raffle prizes, and a baked goods sale. Parishioners are strongly encouraged to participate in the preparation and planning process.

Parish Mission
The Parish Mission, usually held in October, is an opportunity for parishioners to deepen their faith formation through a series of talks on relevant faith topics, presented by a nationally-known speaker. Talks and speakers vary year to year, but the Mission usually consists of three nights, each with a different talk and light reception afterwards. Keep your eye on the bulletin for more information!

Thanksgiving Meals
Food and funds are collected to provide and deliver a complete Thanksgiving Meal to needy families in the greater community. Reconciliation Services
Each year during the Advent and Lenten seasons, we have several major reconciliation services (in addition to our regular reconciliation times) in which we invite many local priests to hear confessions for our parishioners. We want to give everyone the opportunity to come to know and understand the mercy of God through reconciliation, and after the service, we have a reception downstairs to celebrate!

Gift Giving Weekend
St. Columbkille Parish joins with other area churches and organizations to help supply the Sarpy County Christmas Center, a one-day event where parents of families who qualify through Family Services can come to pick out a toy and an item of clothing for their children to open on Christmas morning. On the last two weekends of November, a “Giving Tree” is located in the Narthex and filled with paper ornaments that have gift suggestions on them. Parishioners are invited to take ornaments and return unwrapped gifts to the church on a designated weekend in December. For more information, please contact Becky Grant at 402-592-1103.

Columb’s Ceili
Ceili is an annual event where parishioners gather to celebrate together. It consists of a dinner, dance, fundraising silent and live auction, and the Spirit of St. Columbkille Award. Columb is the shortened form of St. Columbkille, who is our parish’s patron saint. Ceili [pronounced KAY-lee] is a Celtic word that refers to an all-inclusive festive party. Ceili is typically scheduled for early March. For more information, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or visit

Lenten Fish Fry
The Fish Fry is held on all Fridays during Lent except Good Friday, and its mission is to support the needs of parish religious education programs. The Fish Fry serves approximately 1,100 people each week, and involves hundreds of stewards. Funds from the Fish Fry have also been used to address a wide variety of parish and school needs, such as upgrades to the Social Hall, new tables and chairs, stained glass windows, the school cable bill, the St. Columbkille Education Trust Fund, and donations to Ceili.
