All models of religious formation strive to proclaim the message of Jesus and invite all people to individual conversion to discipleship. However, it is not possible to fulfill this purpose with a “one size fits all” program.

In 2009, a comprehensive two-week Summer Religious Education Program was introduced at St. Columbkille for students in grades K-8. The typical September through May program totals 30 hours of religious formation instruction. The two-week summer program is held four hours daily for two weeks equaling 40 hours.

There is a parent component to complete the registration for the Summer Program. Parents will be expected and accountable for their faith development by attending 4 adult faith formation classes or activities. The Faith Formation opportunities are spiritual "learning" and not “service” to others. Faith Formation opportunities are developed to help individuals to grow deeper in their own faith. Some examples of Faith Formation in our parish would be That Man Is You, Come and See, Spirituality Alive, Bible studies, etc. If you need further clarification about whether an opportunity would be accepted as a Faith Formation opportunity, please do not hesitate to contact the RE Office. The faith opportunities must be listed on the registration form. This commitment keeps families connected to the parish throughout the year as well as allows them to continue their ongoing faith formation.

Registration for Summer RE typically begins in August and ends in mid-May (or when classes have reached their maximums).
