Music Ministry
“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord all the earth:
make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.”
Psalms 98:4
ADULT CHOIR
The Adult Choir rehearses on Thursdays, 7:30 to 9:00 p.m., September through May and regularly sings at the 9:00 a.m. Sunday Mass. The choir also provides musical leadership for Holy Days, Triduum, Christmas, and other major parish celebrations. The choir sings 4-part literature and is open to anyone eighteen years of age or older with some previous choral experience.
CANTORS AND PSALMISTS
Soloists and small groups serve as cantors and psalmists, leading the gathered assembly in liturgical song. An initial training and appointment is done before scheduling begins.
CHILDREN’S CHOIR
The Children’s Choir normally sings at the 10:30 a.m. Mass on the third Sunday of each month, October-April. Practices are held Tuesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m during the school year.
GRADE SCHOOL ENSEMBLES
Children from St. Columbkille School lead music at school Masses.
KEYBOARD AND GUITAR ACCOMPANISTS AND INSTRUMENTALISTS
Musicians with skills at piano, organ, and guitar accompany the congregation, cantors, and psalmists in musical prayer throughout the year. Serving in a variety of capacities, this ministry ranges from accompanying larger choral ensembles to a single cantor at Mass. Instruments are sometimes combined to form instrumental ensembles.
GATHERING LIGHT
This ensemble regularly leads music at the 7:30 am. Mass on Sundays and occasionally on weekend evening Masses.
