The Knights of Columbus are Catholic gentlemen committed to the exemplification of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.
St. Columbkille Parish has been served by Archbishop Bergan Council 6429 since 1972. Brother Knights work to fulfill the central mission of the Order: to serve the Church by following its teachings, support Brother Knights in their temporal and spiritual needs, act for the good of the country, and give aid to widows, orphans, the sick and the less fortunate.
Through monthly breakfasts and other fundraisers, the Council provides financial and service support to our priests, school, and religious education. The Council also provides funds to youth and senior groups, along with many other community groups. The Knights support worthy causes on the local, state, and national levels such as the pro-life “One Rose One Life” campaign and Tootsie Roll sales that support the mentally handicapped.
The Council meets the fourth Monday of each month in the Sacred Heart Center and opens each meeting with a Rosary, a prayer for the Pope, and a prayer to end abortion.
Archbishop Bergan Council and the St. Joseph Council in Springfield combined to form a 4th Degree Assembly, St. Michael the Archangel 3606, in 2016. The Assembly meets every other month, alternating between St. Columbkille and St. Joseph. The mission of the Assembly is to serve and support our veterans.
